Army not involved Hindu Temples

Sri Lanka Army Spokesman
denied of any involvement of the Army in the recent spate of burglaries in the Hindu temples in the Hindu temples in the Eastern Province.
Brigadier Ruwan Wanigasooriya, Sri Lanka Army spokesman in a press release categorically denied that, as reported in a pro-LTTE web based media, that Sri Lanka Army was responsible for burglary taken place in three Hindu Temples, namely, Kurukka'l-madam Chellak-kathirkaamam Kovil, Kurukka'lmadam Aianaar Kovil and Maang-kaadu Pi'l'laiyaar Kovil in the Eastern Province district of Batticaloa.
Army Spokesman further said “These allegations are totally baseless and far from truth. However, investigations on a burglary that took place on 1 June at Pi'l'laiyaar Kovil in Vellaveli have revealed that it has been carried out by a team of burglars from the area and yesterday (7th June) a suspect has been arrested in this connection and Sri Lanka Police in Batticaloa is conducting further investigations.”
He express hope that the investigations will certainly reveal the truth about these incidents and will disprove allegations by pro LTTE web based media against Sri Lanka Army.
