“Samurdhi” Officers Need to Work

of Traditional Industries and Small Enterprise Development, participating as the Chief Guest at the ceremony held at the “Co-operative House” on the 01st of June 2013, in Kilinochchi to mark the awarding of appointments to 178 “Samurdhi” Officers said, that those receiving appointments on that day as “Samurdhi” officers should at all times serve the poorest of the poor of the society having well comprehended their problems to make them stand their own feet as respected citizens and in this endeavour needed to work with commitment and dedication to direct their problems to the relevant State officials for prompt action towards effective solution.

Speaking further, the Minister said that at a time when unemployment was rife in the world over, the new appointees should consider themselves as fortunate to be a part and parcel of a State machinery to earn their own living whilst being given the opportunity to serve a sector of our society deserving assistance in every respect. The Minister also said that they would be more than complacent in the event they discharged their duties as expected and that was his wish as well.

Mr. Murugesu Chandrakumar, Member of Parliament for Jaffna district and Deputy Chairman of the Committees of Parliament, speaking at the occasion said, that Minister Devananda, did a yeoman service to thin out the unemployment problem in the North and in doing so his choice was the most educated and experienced.

Mrs. Rupawathy Ketheeswaran, Kilinochchi Govt. Agent; Mrs. Jeyarani, ”Samurdhi” Assistant Commissioner, Kilinochchi district and Mr. Thavanathan, Kilinochchi district EPDP Organizer also participated at this event.
